First light on ASI6200MM

by astro_xsfmb2

After 11 very busy years of no astrophotography I was ready to get back into it.  This time, rather than driving to dark sites a few times a year I wanted to try narrowband imaging from the light polluted skies of Orange County, CA.  For christmas 2021 I got myself an ASI6200mm cooled camera, as well as a filter wheel and an ASIAIR+ to run the whole thing. Everything else, including narrowband filters, I bought back in 2008-2009.   Sadly the narrowband filters sat sealed…literally never used since the day I bought them 11 years ago.

On one of the first cloudless nights we had in January, I drug out all the items to the backyard and set things up.   With only an hour of exposure, this was the result!
